Filtration will convert tap water to pure water, for your entire home
The water from your tap may be fresh enough to drink and treated to remove toxic substances and chemicals before it reaches your home, but this doesn’t mean it is completely free of contaminants and bacteria. Even the most thorough municipal water treatment processes are no substitute for a home filtration system and John’s Service and Sales can help you assess your water and install a system that will help protect your health and provide clean water to your family for years.
How do water filtration systems work?
Filtering your water removes bacteria, metals, and chemicals from your water. Remember that even treated water has to travel from the plant through pipes to your home. Any number of contaminants can enter the system and therefore your water. Residential water filtration can come in a number of forms but there are three that are the most popular:
Activated carbon
Activated carbon – This is a common and inexpensive way to filter your tap water and it is done through a units that is installed under your sink. The carbon filter is very effective at removing chemicals, parasites and even strange tastes from your water. The only real drawback is the system is specific to a single sink.
Ion exchange filters
Ion exchange filters – Also called water softeners, this system is great at removing chemicals such as barium, calcium, and magnesium from your water. Not only are these substances harmful to your health, but prolonged exposure can damage the pipes in your home.
Reverse osmosis
Reverse osmosis – By forcing water through a semipermeable membrane, almost all contaminants are removed from the water. This is considered one of the most effective ways to filter the water in your home.
Why do you need a water filtration system?
Safe water, anytime
Most municipal water systems are effective at removing contaminants, but some aren’t. And many systems use fluoride and chlorine to treat water. The only ways to ensure you are drinking safe water is to buy bottled water, which is wasteful and expensive, or filter the water yourself. Doing it yourself is an environmentally-friendly and effective way to make sure you have clean water for any purpose.
Help sensitive skin
Metals and contaminants in water can aggravate skin conditions such as eczema and psoriasis, especially in the elderly and in children.
Improve the taste of drinking water
Chlorine, iron, bacteria, algae, and any number of factors can combine to produce tap water that tastes funny or is simply unpleasant to drink. Filtered water removes these impurities which means your coffees and teas will taste better as will any foods that need water.
